Today, we have been acting out the story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff. The children were learning to work in pairs and create parts of the story. They listened like bats 🦇 and focussed like eagles 🦅. It was a joy to watch them act out each part. A great way of learning a story 😊. Can you identify the parts they were playing?
We were thinking about our sense of hearing. We played a listening game using the musical instruments.🦻🏼
Our history topic is called Memory Lane. Today we compared toys from the past and the present . We sorted pictures of the toys too.
The children had great fun in their drama lesson. They joined in with fun games and acted out The Three Billy Goats Gruff story.🐐🐐🐐
This supports United Nations Rights of A Child article 31. A right to take part in creative activities.
On Friday it was Reading for Pleasure Day . We arrived at school and found … dinosaur footprints! We couldn’t find the dinosaur but we used our non fiction book to learn all about dinosaurs 🦖. We also read dinosaur 🦕 stories.📚
This week we have shared our feelings in circle time and during our drama lesson with Bex from The Rep. We had a fabulous violin demonstration on Thursday. The children were very excited about having an opportunity to play the violin in year 1. If you would like your child to take violin lessons, please ask at the office. It is worth every penny. Finally, the children were very impressed with the huge dinosaurs footprints all over the carpets in year 1! We had a super Reading For Pleasure day where the children discovered so much about these amazing creatures. Ask your child how long the longest dinosaurs was. We measured the length in the playground 👍🏼
We enjoyed choosing and reading books together in our school library.
Today we had fun working on our catching skills using bean bags.👍
Year 1 have had a great week so far. Bex from The Rep delivered some super drama games which the children really enjoyed. Many of the children remembered her from nursery. Each classroom have created wonderful reading corners. Reading is such a key to learning. Take a look at some of the handwriting in 1BH. We are very proud of the children .
We have been busy sorting objects in our maths lesson today.
